There is no such thing as model auditions without consequences. Many of these after effects can be brushed aside and dismissed as being all just part of the game, but often times things are taken too much to heart. There are models who are no longer with us because someone at some model auditions once told them they were too fat. That simple comment ended up costing them their lives, as they deteriorated into the final stages of anorexia a year or so later.

Model auditions are not always this harsh or dramatic, but for a young person getting their first experience in the industry, these first impressions can be haunting. If you or someone you love is attending model auditions or is thinking about getting involved in modeling at all, take heed. There are a lot of real scumbags out there who will try to get into a person's head and convince them that they are not good enough.

For many, ignoring the kind of rhetoric referred to here is second nature, and they are able to withstand the most extreme and inhumane insults ever heard at model auditions, grumbled by the effete snobs and elitists in the fashion industry. However, not everyone at model auditions is a seasoned veteran who has learned to let these comments roll off of their back, and care must be taken to prepare young newcomers for this harsh reality.
